This Mandatory course is designed to provide a basic awareness of autism. This includes how autism affects an individual on the autistic spectrum and ways to best support them.
Learning Outcomes
This course is designed
to provide a basic autism awareness of autism and how it affects an individual
on the spectrum.
This course aims to Provide an
introduction to the autistic spectrum.
Identify the triad of impairments
and discuss how they affect the individual.
Understand the behavioural characteristics
of the individuals.
Outline sensory processing
disorder and how it affects the individual.
Understand how to contribute to
the person-centred support of an individual who has an autistic spectrum
condition.
Understand how to communicate effectively with
individuals on the autistic spectrum.
Refresher
The
Introductory basic autism awareness is delivered as mandatory training on
induction. This training is for all new employees to the trust. There is no
need for a refresher in basic autism awareness. This course is additionally
open to any staff that may benefit from re-visiting this session or have
previously missed this training.
