Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training
Do I need to attend Tier 1 and then Tier 2 training?
No, you only need to complete one tier based on your job role.
What is the difference between Tier 1 and Tier 2 training?
Tier 1 training is a one hour webinar aimed at non-clinical colleagues.
Tier 2 training is a classroom full-day training session aimed at clinical-colleagues.
Do I still need to complete the Oliver McGowan e-Learning package?
Yes, this is the basic awareness package and should be completed prior to attending Tier 1 or Tier 2 training.
There are no dates on the prospectus, will there be more?
As soon as more dates are available, they will be added to the prospectus.
How can I check I am in-date with the e-learning package?
This will be on your ESR > My Learning Page.
Who do I contact if my e-learning module is not showing on ESR?
Please contact elearning@merseycare.nhs.uk
How often do I need to complete the classroom Tier 2 training?
Every three years
How can I book Tier 1 training?
Please use this form to express an interest.
How can I book Tier 2 training?
Internally ran sessions are booked via the prospectus.
Externally ran sessions are booked via this form.
Why are there internal and external dates?
As this is new training, the internal dates are limited - so we have access to externally ran training in order to offer more training opportunities.
How can I see the external training dates and venues?
Access this form - as the first fields are completed, the available dates and venues will appear.
Why are the external sessions expression of interest? Why can't I just book on?
Places are limited for each session and these are evenly distributed between organisations. Once checks have taken place, the facilitator will confirm the place with you directly.
I have completed the expression of interest form and haven't heard back. Can L&D tell me if I have a place?
Unfortunately, no. You will need to wait to be contacted.
Please do not turn up without this confirmation as you will be turned away.
I have already attended this training and have received a certificate / confirmation from NHS Cheshire & Merseyside
Please send a copy of this evidence to learninganddevelopment@merseycare.nhs.uk and this can be looked into.
Will this be on my ESR training history?
Yes, attendance will be updated after the session has taken place.
If you are attending an externally ran session, this may take slightly longer to update.
I need reasonable adjustments made - where can I add this?
If booking via the prospectus, please click 'yes' on the last question.
If booking via the expression of interest, there is a question on this to add special interests.
