Course Information
A medical emergency or cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, anywhere and at any time, because of this having the skills and knowledge of what to do cannot be under estimated. This course is designed to provide candidates with the essential skills required to immediately manage/provide assistance in the event of a medical emergency or cardiac arrest.
Learning Outcomes

The 2 hour session will cover the following;-

  • Adult Basic Life Support
  • Adult choking
  • Recovery position
  • Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Awareness
  • Use of Oxygen
  • Anaphylaxis
  •  NEWS2
  • Do Not Attempt Resuscitation
  • Use of the Bag-Valve-Mask and emergency red bag (site specific only)
  • Infant/Child BLS
  • Infant/Child Choking
  • Emergency numbers

Candidates will have the knowledge and understanding to provide emergency assistance in the event of a medical emergency/cardiac arrest using the skills taught within the session

Target Audience
All clinical staff who have a responsibility to provide emergency assistance. As designated in each individuals training needs records. Are aimed at colleagues that do not need Teamskills courses, or colleagues that have Breakaways every 2 years as a competence and therefore will need to access the standalone BLS course every other year.
