Learning Outcomes

All healthcare staff who come into contact with children in care should work within the Royal Colleges’ Intercollegiate Framework. This framework identifies the competences that enable healthcare staff to promote the health and wellbeing of children in care. The competencies are a combination of the skills, knowledge, values and attitudes that are required for safe and effective practice.

This training will provide the basis for participants to develop their knowledge to meet the Core Intercollegiate Document Level 3 competencies by gaining an understanding of:

  • Children in care and their health needs
  • Current legislation relevant to children in care
  • The statutory obligation health has to support the health and wellbeing of children in care 
  • The health assessment process and quality assurance requirements
  • Case load responsibility for Children In Care and the Trust requirements for safeguarding supervision
