Course Information
This course is face to face training and will introduce nurses to assessment, treatment and management of urinary and faecal incontinence. It will focus on continence promotion and treatment, and effective management of incontinence.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course delegates
should be able to:
- Define the anatomy and physiology of the
urinary system and large bowel.
- Define continence and incontinence.
- Know the factors that can affect continence.
- Know the different types of incontinence and
the treatments that can help.
Know the different management options available.
Target Audience
Attendance should be discussed and agreed with Line Manager prior to undertaking the course. The course is aimed at Nursing staff who assess and treat patients with urinary and/or faecal incontinence. Including District Nurses, Community Matrons, ICRAS and the ICN.
