Course Information
The Level 2 Enhanced Eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties (Dysphagia) training is a training package to support staff who contribute to the care and treatment of individuals presenting with or who are at risk of eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties.
Learning Outcomes
  • To demonstrate an awareness of the ‘normal swallow’ process 
  •  Demonstrate an understanding of what Dysphagia is and the ‘at risk groups’
  •  To identify signs or symptoms which indicate potential eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties (Dysphagia)
  •  To have an awareness of the impacts of eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties for the individual and their carers. 
  • To feel confident with supporting someone who has Dysphagia by following their eating, drinking and swallowing care plan. 
  • To demonstrate knowledge around the different IDDSI stages and confidence around identifying the different stages

The level 2 enhanced training will be appropriate for staff who: - are involved in direct care - prepare oral intake for service users - assist in eating and providing fluids for service users - follow eating, drinking and swallowing care plans
