Course Information
This module covers the treatment of the following symptoms and is delivered by a Palliative Medicine Specialist Nausea & vomiting • Causes of Nausea & vomiting • Principals of choosing an anti-emetic • Common anti- emetics • Practicalities of managing nausea & vomiting • Case studies Palliative Care Emergencies • SVCO • Malignant spinal cord compression • Hypercalcaemia • Neutropenic sepsis • Catastrophic haemorrhage
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the session colleagues should be able to:   
  • Define palliative care
  • List the common causes of nausea & vomiting
  • List the commonly used anti emetics in palliative care
  • List the signs SVCO
  • Identify signs of hypercalcaemia
  • Identify the signs of Neutropenic sepsis
  • Discuss management of patient at risk of catastrophic haemorrhage
  • Learn about managing symptoms such as nausea/ vomiting, palliative care  emergencies, seizure management
