Course Information
This 2.5hr course is essential for nurses & appropriate for other HCPs who frequently care for patients in their last year of life. It is delivered virtually by members of the palliative care team. The session covers: • Evidence base for communication skills training • Structure of a consultation • Barriers to effective communication • Strategies for difficult situations including role play
Learning Outcomes

At the end of the session the DN should be able to:

  • List the common barriers to communication
  • List micro skills used in communication
  • Discuss how to approach a range of difficult situations
  • To develop good communication skills with palliative care patients.
