​Have you ever worked with someone with a learning disability? Have you ever faced particular challenges or difficulties when working with people with learning disabilities within mental health services? Do you know what reasonable adjustments all health services are required to make to support people with learning disabilities? Do you want to know how mental health and learning disability services can work together better for service users?
Learning Outcomes

​The aim of the day is to help staff:

• understand what a learning disability is
• understand how mental health difficulties present in people with learning disabilities
• understand why service users with learning disabilities and mental health problems have the same rights to access mental health services as anyone else
• look at some specific areas where it can be difficult to support someone with a learning disability (such as communication difficulties)  and how to manage this
• look at the roles of mental health and learning disability services and how they can work more effectively together.
