Learning Outcomes
- Explain the legislation related to moving and handling and the use of equipment, including risk assessment.
- Understand normal human movement patterns as a pre requisite to moving and handling people. Examine of the anatomy of the spine and injuries that can occur using poor handling techniques.
- Explain what could be termed a controversial technique.
- Examine safer people handling techniques using principles of biomechanics.
- Examine how multidisciplinary team communication and risk assessments ensure the safe handling of people.
- Explain and understand the correct use of moving and handling equipment and accessories in a variety of situations.
Refresher
- On Induction then annually
- If staff cannot demonstrate this they will need to repeat the training.
- If there has been a change in legislation nationally or an organisation has amended its policy locally, staff will need to receive an update to reflect any changes.
