Course Information
This course provides an assessment of competence in completing clinical observations including correct measurement of vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, tympanic temperature, SPO2, respiration rate, ACVPU using NEWS2 score), awareness of optimal clinical parameters and escalation in clinical practice using SBARD communication tool.
Learning Outcomes

1. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of improving patient safety and provision of quality person-centred care.

2. Successfully obtain vital sign observations including manual blood pressure measurement, manual pulse, use of tympanic thermometer, SPO2 using Oximeter, respiration rate, observation of conscious level (ACVPU) and NEWS2 scoring.
3. Demonstrate competence in the assessment, interpretation and recognition of the deteriorating patient using clinical observations and the National Early Warning Score
4. Escalate timely and appropriately in clinical practice using the SBARD Communication Tool.
