Course Information
Working through interpreters adds a layer of complexity to the delivery of assessments and talking therapies and many psychological professionals find this difficult. This training day aims to provide an opportunity to learn about the asylum process (and how this can often complicate the delivery of talking therapies) and to practice skills in working through interpreters.

1. Understanding the issues for asylum seekers and refugees
a. An outline of the process of seeking asylum and the difficulties that people face in doing this
b. Issues that complicate therapeutic work with asylum seekers/refugees and how to overcome them
c. Working with complex trauma and PTSD in asylum seeking.

c. Good practice working with interpreters
d. Expected good practice from interpreters
