Learning Outcomes

Increase knowledge in relation to all aspects of tissue viability Link Nurse Responsibilities:

 

 To support the Tissue Viability Service by acting as the first point of referral for tissue viability advice within their team.

• To liaise on behalf of their team with the Tissue Viability service for advice and support.

• To arrange and attend joint patient reviews with the Tissue Viability Team when complex patients require specialist assessment were possible.

• To be responsible for updating their knowledge and skills cascading information gained at study sessions back to team members

• To champion pressure ulcer prevention strategies with patients, relatives and staff.

• To attend all Tissue Viability link nurse meetings (Please note 2 consecutive missed Link Nurse meetings will result in a request for your team leader to nominate another link nurse)

• To complete the competencies required to fulfil the Link Nurse role.

• To participate within audit and clinical evaluations of wound management products to ensure National Standards and Guidance are upheld.

• To raise awareness of the local wound care formulary with all staff members within my clinical area

 

 The Link Nurse will always act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council code of Professional Conduct.
